Proposed Implementation of I-635 Express/HOV Lanes From US 75 to I-30 - Public Hearing
CSJs: 2374-01-176, 2374-02-142
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the Highland Oaks Church of Christ, 10805 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, Texas 75238. The purpose of the hearing is to present the proposed implementation of the I-635 Express/HOV lanes from US 75 to I-30 in the cities of Dallas, Garland, and Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas, and to receive public comments. Open house will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., to allow for questions and review of project exhibits. The formal public hearing presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The existing I-635 facility is an eight-lane freeway from US 75 to I-30 with a single HOV lane in each direction, various auxiliary lanes, and discontinuous frontage roads. The existing right-of-way (ROW) width varies from 330 to 990 feet. The proposed project would implement tolling of single occupant vehicles (SOVs) on the existing I-635 HOV lanes, from US 75 to I-30. The proposed Express/HOV Lane width would not change from the existing 11-foot wide HOV lane throughout the project limits. Proposed construction would include the addition of three toll gantries and toll gantry maintenance areas. The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce congestion and improve mobility. The proposed improvements would not require additional ROW or easements. No residential or commercial structures would be displaced as a result of the proposed project.
