SH 5 from SH 121 to CR 375 - Public Meeting
CSJ: 0047-04-022
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed improvements to SH 5 from SH 121 to CR 375 in the cities of Melissa, Anna, and Van Alstyne, Collin County, Texas. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Anna Middle School, 1201 North Powell Parkway, Anna, Texas 75409. The meeting will be held in an open house format from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project to the public and receive comments. The proposed project would widen this section of SH 5 from a two-lane, undivided, rural roadway to a four-lane, divided, urban roadway with an 18-foot to 42-foot wide raised central median (with ultimate six-lane configuration from SH 121 to Farm-to-Market Road [FM] 455) for approximately nine miles). The proposed roadway would also include 12-foot wide left-turn and right-turn lanes at designated locations. A 14-foot wide outside lane (to accommodate bicyclists) and five-foot to six-foot wide sidewalks in each direction are also proposed. The purpose of the proposed project is to reduce congestion and improve mobility. The proposed improvements would potentially require approximately 40 acres of right-of-way and 0.1 acre for a proposed drainage easement. Twelve private, seven commercial, and two publicly-owned structures would potentially be displaced as a result of the proposed project.
