CSJ: 0172-08-053
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public hearing to discuss proposed improvements to US 287 in the City of Ennis, Ellis County, Texas. The public hearing will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Ennis High School, 2301 Ensign Road, Ennis, TX 75119. An open house will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., to allow for questions and review of project exhibits. The public hearing presentation will begin at 7:00 P.M.
The proposed project would involve the reconstruction and widening of US 287 to accommodate the addition of mainlanes, ramps, and frontage road lanes. The project limits would extend from SH 34 to IH 45, a distance of approximately 4.5 miles. Proposed improvements include widening US 287 to a four-lane divided roadway and providing continuous two-lane frontage roads in each direction from SH 34 to Old Alma Rd. Six-foot sidewalks would be provided along the proposed frontage roads from SH 34 to Old Alma Road. Grade-separated intersections would be constructed at Ensign Road, FM 1183 (Oak Grove Road), and Sterilite Drive (Rudd Road). The proposed project would require approximately 57.6 acres of additional right-of-way (ROW) and approximately 2.0 acres for drainage easements. One carport would be displaced at the intersection of Ensign Road and US 287 due to this project. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and the tentative schedules for ROW acquisition and construction will be available at the public hearing and can also be obtained from the TxDOT Dallas District Office. Portions of the proposed project are located within the 100-year floodplain. The proposed project would impact four jurisdictional waters of the U.S., including wetlands.
