The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will conduct a public meeting for proposed improvements to SH 205 from US 80 to SH 78 in Kaufman, Rockwall, and Collin Counties, Texas, a distance of approximately 24 miles. The Segment 6 preferred alternative of the SH 205 project in Rockwall County, which is the John King Boulevard Alternative that was displayed at the July 7, 2016 Public Meeting, will be presented. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at First United Methodist Church Rockwall, 1200 East Yellow Jacket Lane, Rockwall, TX 75087. Representatives from TxDOT, the City of Rockwall, and project consultants will be available to answer questions about the proposed project. It will be conducted in an informal open house format with no formal presentation.
The SH 205 Alternatives Analysis was divided into seven segments and was presented at the July 7, 2016 Public Meeting held at Herman E. Utley Middle School. The project would include TxDOT maintaining the existing John King Boulevard, Segment 6, four-lane facility and the future inside widening for an ultimate six-lane facility when warranted by traffic demand. The proposed improvements to Segments 1 through 4 and 7 of the project include widening the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with accommodations being made for an ultimate six-lane facility. Additional ROW is anticipated along existing SH 205 and John King Boulevard.
