The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is proposing to widen 7.4 miles of SH 276 from FM 549 in
Rockwall County to CR 2472 in Hunt County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be
conducting a public meeting on the proposed project. The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at
the Utley Middle School Cafeteria, located at 1201 T.L. Townsend Drive, Rockwall, TX 75087.
The meeting will be held in an open house format from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to
present the planned improvements and to receive public comment on the proposed project. Representatives
from TxDOT and project consultants will be available to answer questions about the proposed project.
The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction and widening of SH 276 from FM 549 in Rockwall
County to CR 2472 in Hunt County, Texas. Proposed improvements would involve the expansion from a twolane
rural highway to a four-lane urban highway. Expansion would consist of one 12-foot wide travel lane and
one 14-foot wide outside shared-use lane in each direction, a proposed median to accommodate the future
ultimate six-lane facility, and sidewalks located along the outside of both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
The existing right-of-way (ROW) width is 120 feet and will increase with the proposed project. The proposed
ROW is anticipated to acquire approximately 15 acres to expand the roadway, based on this preliminary level of
design. No residential or non-residential displacements are anticipated.
