CSJ: 0047-04-022
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), as the lead agency, is proposing to reconstruct and
widen SH 5 from SH 121 to CR 375 in Collin County, TX. This notice advises the public that draft
environmental assessment (EA) is available for public review and that TxDOT will be conducting a public
hearing on the proposed project. The hearing will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Anna
Middle School, 1201 North Powell Parkway, Anna, Texas 75409. Displays will be available for viewing
at 6:00 p.m. with the formal hearing starting at 7:00 p.m. The public hearing will be held in accordance
with Chapter 26 of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code. The purpose of the hearing is to present the
planned improvements and to receive public comment on the proposed project.
The proposed project would reconstruct and widen the existing two-lane SH 5 roadway to a four-lane
urban divided highway. The proposed improvements would require right-of-way (ROW) acquisition of
approximately 43.24 acres, including easements. A 14-foot wide shared-use outside lane with 1-foot
wide outside curb offset and 5 to 6-foot wide American with Disabilities Act compliant sidewalks in both
directions would be included throughout the entire project limits. SH 121 and CR 375 are logical termini
for the roadway improvements and this project would have independent utility.
Displays available for viewing: 6:00 p.m.
